A good trip

I just got home from a good weekend in Missouri. I was able to present my ministry and preach at Prairie Flower Bible Church in Webb City,MO, this past Sunday night. I thank you for your prayers for me. It was an 18 hour drive round trip. Thankfully, it was an easy drive, and I made it safely with no difficulty. Last week, I was able to visit a church in Virginia and next week I will be heading to wild, wonderful West Virginia for 5 days. I will be visiting churches and talking with pastors all week. Continue to pray my support comes in and I can get to South Africa quickly!

How to Prosper

The other day in Sunday school I saw this verse underlined in my Bible, and it has stuck in my head. A lot of times in life we wonder how we can “get ahead” or how to prosper. II Chronicles 26:5b tells us how. “As long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.” It seems pretty simple, doesn’t it? But how many times in each of our lives do we try to do things our way and mess things up. This verse just was another reminder to give it over to the Lord and trust Him in every situation. If you want to prosper,and who doesn’t, follow Him!

Good ole West Virginia

This weekend I was able to head up to West Virginia to visit a couple churches that had been supporting my grandparents for years. I was excited to go to these churches and also see some friends. I was able to go back to the Cracker Barrel I used to work at while I lived up there which of course brought back a lot of memories.

Sunday morning started out heading to church with the family I was staying with. It was a great message about the “body of Christ.” Right after,I drove to a small country church but never was able to find it. I was a little discouraged about that but thankful I didnt get lost out there. haha I was able to visit my grandfather for a little while who has not been doing very well physically. Please pray for Keith Miller if you would.

Anyway,Sunday night I was able to go to another church and arrived 45 mins before the service started. In that time,I was able to meet the pastor who knew my grandparents and uncles and aunts. It was really neat to be able to update him on all of them. I didnt know this when I arrived but that day was the start of their missions conference. One family was missionaries to Peru and showed a great presentation about that field. The man who spoke is a part of a prison ministry and his message really touched my heart. I praise the Lord for how He works in every situation. The pastor told me he is going to try to have me back at the church soon so pray that will work out. It was another great trip to good ole West Virginia.

Heading to Ohio

I am heading to a missions conference this weekend in Vermilion, Ohio. Please pray that God will work during this time. It will be a special visit for me because I have been to this church once before. Vermilion Baptist has supported my grandparents for years and back in the mid 90’s,I was able to visit with my granddad.

I am also heading to West Virginia Sunday night and visiting some friends. Please pray for safety as I travel and for the Lord to bless.

There is also one individual and a church that has gotten in touch with me about possibly supporting me. Pray that God’s will would be done. Thank you so much for all your prayers and encouragement. I can never say thanks enough for everything!

What a day that will be!

Heaven sure is sounding sweeter everyday. The last couple days I haven’t been able to get it off my mind. I know I am looking forward to seeing my Saviour there. My dad and sister are also there and I can’t wait to see them again.

What really got me thinking about heaven is the bus route that I am on. This past Sunday we had 40 riders and had a few first time visitors. I know of at least one person who got saved on the route Sunday. Even though we picked up a lot of kids, there were still more out there that we didn’t pick up. It burdened my heart to see people saved so they can have the hope and joy of knowing they are on their way to heaven also.

I know when I get to South Affrica, it will be a whole new way of life for me. Everything will be changing, from the food to the accents to driving on the other side of the road. But one thing will be the same there as it is here, the people need the Lord. I need to do what I can to tell them about Jesus so they can go to heaven.

New Year’s Resolution

I am usually not one who had new year’s resolutions. I never, thankfully, have had to lose those extra pounds or anything like that. But this year, I have just one resolution. That is, I want to be in South Africa in 2010. This has been my focus since I have been on deputation, and 2010 always seemed a long way away but here it is. This past Thanksgiving and Christmas, I made sure to really enjoy the time spent with family and friends because I plan to be overseas next year during the holidays.

My Sunday school teacher shared 2 verses this past Sunday that I have known for years, but when I heard them this time, they took on new meaning. Philippians 3 :13-14 ” Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before. I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

These verses mean so much to me and they are going to be my theme verses until I get to South Africa. Please continue to pray for me. I am at 50% support and am ready to get to South Africa

Impact through intercession

Three words that mean so much. This has become the new motto for my mission board and it is powerful. Think of what can happen when you pray for people. You have a huge effect on their lives just by praying for them. We know that prayer can do everything God can do, and God can do anything. Think of the miracles and answers that you have seen because of prayer.

I want to thank you guys for your prayer for me. I really appreciate it and am very thankful for it. I had a pastor call me last week to come to his missions conference in March. I had never talked to him before. He had seen my name on my granddad’s prayer letter and decided to call me. I know that is the power of prayer. I want to ask for you to continue to pray for meetings to line up and that I will also get the rest of my support in.

Even as Christians, I don’t think we fully comprehend and realize how important prayer is. We can see needs met, lives changed, and other miracles by praying. I want to ask for your continued prayer for me to get to South Africa. As my friend Bro. Hester says, “Together we pray.”

Fairview

I was able to be at Fairview Baptist for their misisons conference this week. It was a great week! The people were soo friendly and kind. I was able to present my work and give my testimony on two different nights. I also got to go by Camp Fairview for the first time in years. Camp Fairview holds a special place in my heart because I surrendered my life to full time Christian service there the summer after 9th grade.

One special thing that happened this week was a boy named Connor who’s a 4th grader surrendered his life to be a missionary to Africa. It was such a blessing when he came up and told me that before I left. Praise the Lord!

Thanks to everyone who was praying for me this week. The Lord was working all week.

Heading out again

I wanted to let you guys know I am heading to Fairview Baptist Church in Athens,TN, for their missions conference on Saturday. The conference is Sunday thru Wednesday, October 25-28. I will be coming back home late Wednesday night. Please pray for safety and that the conference will go well. I pray I will be a blessing to the people there. I will let yall know how everything goes.

Goal for the field

Just a quick update on what is going on with deputation. I am now at 46% of my support. God is continuing to bless thankfully. I am heading to West Virginia for a meeting September 20. Please pray for that. I will be there for both Sunday services and am looking forward to what God is going to do.

I have a big prayer request. I have set a goal to be in South Africa by May 2010. It is coming up quick and there is still alot of work to be done before then. As I mentioned, I have 46% of the $3000 monthly support I am needing. Please pray that God will provide and I will be able to get to South Africa quickly. I am excited to see God work and bless.
